Note: A typical sloped roof might run from 30 to 60 degrees - to give you a feel for this: stairways are typically 30 degrees. Roof pitch is the ratio of a roof's vertical rise in inches to each foot of horizontal distance [called the run]. A 4-in-12 pitch describes a roof that rises 4 inches vertically for every 12 inches of horizontal distance. Contractors often talk about "rise-to-run" or pitch. If you only know this, we can convert to degrees!
